Wrongful convictions happen all over the country and are caused by all kinds of factors, including false confessions, police or prosecutor misconduct, eyewitness misidentification, ineffective defense counsel, and others. Exonerations are happening in every state across the nation, with more than 87 people exonerated in 2013 alone.

Despite these staggering numbers, there is still a tremendous amount of work to be done. The best studies suggest that conservatively there are currently over 50,000 innocent people in prison in the U.S.

Proclaim Justice is dedicated to winning freedom for inmates who are factually innocent of the crimes for which they were convicted.
